The Ring of Cletus
The exact origin of the Ring of Cletus is
unknown. But Cletus was a less than stellar individual, making his
living from deception and doing cheap parlor tricks.
He was also a petty thief.
He met a stranger in Jerusalem. He was tall, pale with black hair and
dark eyes. He spoke with a soft accent. He said he was passing through
and asked Cletus where the closest body of water was.
Cletus immediately noticed the traveler had a beautiful ring on his
finger, one that looked as if it were made of silver entwined serpents
with a black stone. He was quite taken with it. Cletus gave him
directions and shook his hand, placing his signature upon the ring.
Later that night, he summoned it, and found that it had powers, powers
that he could use to enhance his magic to some degree, although he never
found out the true depths of the ring’s power.
At his death, it was taken to be worn by the Antimages, its power used
sparingly.
