The Magical Realm

Location of the Magical Realm

There is no set physical location of the magical world. It co-exists with the Human world.

Puddle and Mirrors

The magical world can be accessed through mediums such as water and mirrors at sunset and sunrise, although access by mirrors can only be accomplished by magical beings. Even Humans can pass over a puddle if the conditions are right, although it is usually accidental.

Fairy Circles

So-called fairy circles are another way to access this world. Usually it is a circular patch of grass or other greenery that is darker than the vegetation around it. Unfortunately, this usually puts the visitor into direct contact with the Fey, many of whom are not too friendly. Usually they can be escaped by the use of music. Purposely stepping into a fairy circle doesn’t guarantee transport. The conditions must be right or magically altered.

Dimensional Doorways

Another way is to accidentally step through a warp in the earth’s fabric, also called a dimensional doorway. It’s formed by the warping of space that naturally occurred when the earth was formed and although these doorways are relatively stable, they appear to move because of the earth’s rotation, spiraling north to south, the trajectory changing slightly so are never in the same place twice. They are also invisible, so you never see them coming or going.

Psychic Transport

Of course sorcerers and sorceresses can move between worlds at will, since they are both magical and human PROVIDED they fully understand the intricate process of physically and psychically shifting realities.

Which isn't easy.

Dangers of Psychic Transport

Shifting through space is the most difficult of all the magical arts and usually only a sorcerer of great focus and experience can pull it off.. A steady, calm mind is needed, one that can ignore distractions. The slightest hesitation or inattention can land a sorcerer
deep under water, falling in mid-air or in one horrible instance, stuck on the moon.  Needless to say, death is usually imminent in those cases, which is why many sorcerers prefer to wait for puddles or use mirrors. Errors are not usually correctible.
