The Clerics

Clerics serve the Antimage in a number of capacities. The following is a list of their designations and jobs.

High Cleric ~ The cleric who takes personal care of the Antimage’s food and clothing. Usually the one favored for succession and serves as an advisor as well. Has much power and is over all other clerics, his word considered to be the word of the Antimage.

High Baker Cleric ~ Hand-picked by the Antimage to bake the cleric wafers. Has taken a vow of silence and never speaks. Leads a solitary, celibate life.

Baker Cleric ~ Bakes the usual communion wafers given to the Antimage's followers.

Bride Clerics ~ Several beautiful female clerics who take care of the Antimage’s carnal needs. To touch one of the brides means immediate castration, the cut organ then cooked and fed to the disloyal bride before she is branded and cast out of the citadel to live in shame for the rest of her days. Still, some clerics and brides have been known to take the risk, because the women are lovely and the Antimage, old, fat, unattractive and perverted.

Warrior Clerics ~ Those who actively attack and take sorcerers.

Watcher Clerics ~ Clerics whose only purpose is to locate sorcerers and their families and pass the information on to the warrior clerics. Sometimes they will take a sorcerer if there is an opportunity.

Guard Clerics ~ They protect the citadel, entrance to and from Damar, maintain and enforce the law

Blesser Clerics ~ These are young clerics of the age of 15 or 16 who accompany warriors. They do not carry wands or clubs or engage in any of the battle. They distribute cleric wafers and a blessing.
.
Cook Clerics ~ provide meals for the clerics.

Counter Clerics ~ Keep track of the gifts from the followers and the wealth of the Antimage, which they invest in the mundane world and steward. The Antimage has vast holdings under several corporations. This money is used in the fight against sorcerers in whatever capacity is necessary.

Teacher Clerics ~ Those that teach the ways of the faith to warriors and others who serve the Antimage. They arrange for them to be educated and housed in the outside world, and also train them in physical battle and the use of prayers and clubs.

Host Clerics ~ Also called “the Keepers of the Faith.” A number of clerics who constantly imbibe cleric wafers and keep up prayers all hours at the citadel and during services. These prayers are really detection and protection spells.
.
Bleeder Clerics ~ Those that bleed sorcerers, catch and bottle the blood.

Corpse Clerics ~ Those that dispose of the bodies of the dead sorcerers.

Humble Clerics  ~ Clerics in charge of the care and maintenance of the citadel, the grounds and all other areas occupied by clerics. They clean, launder and also maintain Damar's terraforming, checking the landscape and sculpting it to direct the flow of natural water to designated areas protected by guard clerics.

How Clerics Interact with the World

Most of Damar’s citizens never leave Damar, the Antimage keeping them living a medieval lifestyle, curtailing free thought and steeping the people in religious doctrine and blind faith. Only clerics leave Damar, and those that do are zealots who aren’t swayed by the ways of the outside. Clerics are both male and female.

Warrior, Seeker, Teacher, Counter and Blesser Clerics are familiar with the modern world since they must move through it and can use modern technology, drive and some even have jobs and live in the mundane world. Ideally, they try to land state and government jobs, jobs that give them access to records of individuals so they can be tracked. They use cell phones, computers and keep up with the latest technology. They blend in and are usually well-traveled and have passports.

Weapons of a Cleric

In battle, clerics use wands and clubs. Clubs are used because they are less likely to spill much of a sorcerer’s blood, unlike a sword or other sharp instrument. Preservation of the blood is important and their main objective outside of actually capturing a sorcerer alive.

Private Lives of Clerics

Clerics do not practice celibacy. Many live in the citadel, but some live outside it and have families. Warriors do not marry while in service as warriors. Eventually they are replaced then are free to start families. It is thought that warriors with families would be divided, particularly when it came to children, since children are taken. The Antimage wants no sympathetic family men among his ranks.
